How to use NihamsDocs
NihamsDocs opens almost any document right in your browser and turns it into a calm reading workspace — highlights, notes, bookmarks, collections and search. Nothing is uploaded to a server; everything lives on your device.
Getting started
Open the home page and either drag a file onto the upload area or tap it to browse. You can add several files at once.
As soon as a file is ready it opens in the reader. Every file you open is also saved to your local library, so you can come back to it later from the Library page.
Supported formats
NihamsDocs reads a wide range of files entirely in the browser:
- Documents — PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, RTF, ODT, Markdown
- Spreadsheets — XLSX, XLS, CSV (multiple sheets)
- Ebooks — EPUB (chapter navigation)
- Code & text — JSON, XML, HTML, CSS, JS, TS, YAML, INI, LOG
Highlighting works in the text-based viewers (TXT, RTF, Markdown, DOCX). Notes and bookmarks work with every file type.
Reading controls
The toolbar at the top of the reader gives you everything for a comfortable read:
- Zoom — zoom in, out, or reset. PDFs fit your screen width automatically, then zoom from there.
- Reading modes — Light, Dark, Sepia and High-contrast. Your choice is remembered.
- Typography — font family, size, line height, letter spacing and reading width.
- Search — find text inside the document, jump between matches, and toggle case-sensitive, whole-word or regex.
- Fullscreen and scroll / page modes for distraction-free reading.
NihamsDocs remembers where you stopped — reopen a document and it returns to your last position, zoom and reading mode.
Bangla reading
NihamsDocs is built with first-class Bengali support. When it detects Bangla text it automatically applies comfortable line spacing and a Bangla-friendly font.
You can pick your preferred Bangla font (Noto Sans Bengali, Hind Siliguri, Kalpurush, SolaimanLipi) from the typography panel, and search works correctly with Unicode Bangla, including combined characters.
Highlights, notes & bookmarks
Highlight — select text in a document and pick a colour. Highlights are saved automatically and reappear every time you open the file.
Notes — attach a note to a highlight or to the document. Edit, pin and search your notes from the workspace panel.
Bookmarks — save your current spot and jump back to it any time.
Open the workspace panel from the toolbar to see all your highlights, notes and bookmarks for the current document, and to export them.
Library & collections
The Library (Knowledge Hub) is your home base. Every document you open is listed there with its reading progress, reading time and counts of notes, highlights and bookmarks.
- Views — grid, list or compact.
- Collections — group documents (e.g. Study, Work, Research).
- Tags — label documents and filter by one or more tags.
- Favorites — star the documents you return to most.
- Smart filters — Unread, In progress, Completed, Has notes, and more.
- Bulk actions — select several documents to move, tag or delete at once.
Tap a document to open it. Since your files are stored locally, they reopen instantly — even offline.
Global search
From the Library, “Search everything” looks across your documents, notes, highlights, bookmarks, collections and tags at once. Pick any result to jump straight to it.
Offline & install
NihamsDocs is a Progressive Web App. You can install it on Android, iPhone (Add to Home Screen) or desktop, and it keeps working without an internet connection.
Everything stays on your device — your files, notes and library are never sent to any server.
Backup & storage
From the Library sidebar you can back up your entire workspace (library, collections, tags, notes, highlights and bookmarks) to a single JSON file, and restore it later or on another device.
The same panel shows how much storage you are using and lets you clear cached data or remove old documents.

Troubleshooting
A document won’t reopen from the Library. Files are saved when you open them. If you added a file before installing this version, open it once more from the home page and it will be available offline from then on.
Highlights don’t appear on a PDF. Text highlighting is available in TXT, RTF, Markdown and DOCX. Notes and bookmarks work on every file type.
Everything is private. If you clear your browser data for this site, your library and notes are removed too — use Backup first if you want to keep them.
